What can you not buy with a Safeway gift card?
Card can be used for merchandise purchases only at any of the stores listed on this card, non-merchandise purchases (e.g. gift cards, money orders/transfers, lottery) are not allowed.
How does a Safeway gift card work?
Use of the Card constitutes acceptance of the following terms: Once activated, Card is redeemable for merchandise at any Safeway Companies* stores in the U.S. (excluding Canada). Card’s value is in U.S. dollars. Card cannot be redeemed for cash, except as required by law. Protect the Card like cash.
Are gift cards refundable at Safeway?
While Safeway will accept most products for return, they currently do not accept alcohol or baby formula for return. Additionally, Safeway also cannot accept gift cards for either return or exchange, as they are not considered part of store merchandise.

Can Safeway gift cards buy gas?
Safeway does allow gift cardholders to purchase gas and concession snacks at Safeway gas stations as of 2022. However, Safeway gift cards must be used at the cash register as they cannot be used at the gas pumps.
Do Safeway gift cards expire?
Card may be used multiple times until value is depleted and cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by law. Funds will not be replaced on Lost/Stolen cards and Safeway Gift Card LLC is not responsible for use of card without your knowledge. Card does not expire and has no fees.
Can I use Safeway gift card at Starbucks?
Gift cards from Safeway can also be used for Alcohol, pharmacy, flowers and other department purchases. The Starbucks kiosk doesn’t take gift cards currently. Safeway Gift Cards can also be used at any store location owned by Safeway’s parent company, Albertsons Companies.

Yes, a Safeway club card can make purchases through the Instacart app. The only limitation is that you cannot use it on alcohol or tobacco products in some states.
