What are colleges looking for in the Common App essay?
Since this is a choose-your-own-adventure prompt, colleges aren’t looking for anything specific to this prompt. However, you’ll want to demonstrate some of the same qualities that colleges are looking for in all college essays: things like academic passion, maturity, resourcefulness, and persistence.
Can my high school see my common app?
Schools do not have any access to your information until you add them to your My Colleges list. At that point, they can see only the information you have filled out for their school. Once you submit an application to a school, that school will have access to all the information on the specific application.
Can your counselor see your common app?
No, that’s a different option on the CommonApp. Inviting a Counselor doesn’t give them access to anything unless you select that option.
How do I pick a safety school?
Your standardized test scores should surpass the 75th percentile and your GPA should be above the school’s average to possibly consider a college a safety school. Use PrepScholar tools. How do you calculate chances of getting into a college?
Schools calculate acceptance rates by dividing the number of accepted students by the total number that applied. Among all the students who apply, some have a 99% chance of acceptance, while others have less than a 1% chance.
