Childline counsellors understand that it’s not easy to talk, and they can help you to feel more confident. Remember, if you can’t talk on the phone right now, you can start by using the 1-2-1 chats or sending an email using your Childline account.

How do I message a Childline?
If you need to get through quickly you can call us for free on 0800 1111. If you don’t want to talk again, there are still lots of ways to get support. You could try using the message boards, or writing an email to a counsellor.
Can you text a Childline anonymously?

Does Childline tell your parents?
Confidentiality at Childline Whenever you speak to us it’s confidential and we won’t tell other people what you’ve said. We only might need to say or do something if: you ask us to. we believe your life or someone else’s life is in danger.
Can you call Childline at 18?
We’re here for young people aged 18 and under. But even if you’re over 18 and you need support, you don’t have to cope alone.
Does Childline have an online chat?
You can chat either through our For Me app or through the website on your phone, laptop, desktop or tablet. 2. Everything you do with Childline is free, unless you’re on your mobile and pay for your data. Using any website, including Childline, can use mobile data if you’re not connected to WiFi.
Does Childline contact your parents?
Hi there, ChildLine is anonymous and confidential – this means you don’t need to tell anyone that you’re signing up for an account or that you’re talking to us. ChildLine is a private space where you can talk about things you don’t feel able to say to anyone else – and this can include your parents if you wish.
Does Childline call the police?
Childline wants to make sure you’re safe and sometimes we work with the police to do that. But most of the time we don’t tell anyone what you say to us. Our confidentiality promise explains the situations when we might need to tell someone.
Are Childline calls recorded?
Phone calls to Childline aren’t recorded and our number won’t appear on phone bills. But whenever you talk to us we’ll write some notes about what you’ve said. If you contact us again, the counsellor you talk to will be able to read those notes.
Can a 19 year old use Childline?
Childline works with children and young people until they turn 19 years of age. If you’ve already have been involved with social services or CAMHS, you might already know that normally at 18 years of age people move out of services like these and into ‘adult services’.
What is Childlines aim?
Childline Supporting children and young people for over 35 years. Our Childline service gives children and young people a voice when no one else is listening. Whatever problems or dangers they face, we give them somewhere to turn to for support when they need it. Childline is free to contact on 0800 1111.
