How to Time a Farmall H-4 Magneto
- Locate the No.
- Insert the long, thin, screwdriver in the spark plug hole.
- Remove the screwdriver when top dead center has been ascertained.
- Insert the magneto into the engine about two inches and stop.
- Install the distributor cap by hand only; do not tighten it down.
How do I get more power from my Farmall H?
You can get more horsepower out of a Farmall 300 or 350 piston and sleeve kit, but it won’t fit in the Farmall H block the same way. You’ll need to either replace the block with one from a 300/350 or you can put in an overbore piston and sleeve kit in your standard H block.

Rev it up, wide open, warmed up, then turn the big main fuel adjusting screw IN until rough, then out til smooth, then 1/4 turn to 1/2 turn further out. (Mine is set at 1 turn open.
